About
Welcome to Yayoi - Pathum Wan, a hidden gem nestled within the bustling MBK Mall in Bangkok. This delightful eatery offers a charming escape from the mall's vibrant chaos, inviting you to indulge in authentic Japanese cuisine in a cozy atmosphere adorned with traditional decor.
Located at 444 Phaya Thai Rd, Khwaeng Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Yayoi specializes in bento boxes that are as visually appealing as they are delicious. Patrons rave about the extensive selection—from succulent salmon to crispy fried cod, each box brimming with an abundance of rice, fresh salads, and delightful sides like crab and egg. The portion sizes are generous, ensuring that even the heartiest of appetites might struggle to clean their plate.
One aspect that sets Yayoi apart is its innovative use of technology; patrons are often intrigued by a robot that helps deliver dishes, adding a sprinkle of modern flair to your dining experience. However, seasoned staff members remain indispensable in guiding this technological endeavor, ensuring that each dish finds its rightful owner while offering a friendly face to enhance your visit.
The quality of the food is generally impressive, with many reviews highlighting the freshness of the ingredients. For instance, the salmon is noted for its melt-in-your-mouth texture, a testament to its high quality. While some diners, like Jahangir Ahmed, have experienced the food as fantastic, others, such as Chan Wai, found some dishes to be merely average. This variety in feedback illustrates that Yayoi's culinary journey can sometimes be unpredictable, making each visit a unique experience.
Service at Yayoi has received mixed reviews. While some guests were delighted by the quick and attentive staff, others felt the pressure of long wait times during peak hours. Despite these occasional hiccups, a warm, welcoming ambiance continues to shine through, creating a pleasant environment to enjoy your meal.
If you're exploring the diverse culinary landscape of Bangkok or simply taking a break from shopping, Yayoi - Pathum Wan is worth a detour. With its tempting bento offerings, engaging atmosphere, and the quirky charm of a robot waitstaff, this restaurant invites you to explore the flavors of Japan in a vibrant city setting. Just remember to bring along a translation app to help navigate the menu and enhance your experience!
“ The food is standard but I enjoyed watching the robot sends out dishes. I think most customers still do not how to react to it and so a staff member is still required to follow the robot and take the dishes out to the right customer. I think Japanese food is popular here and I chose it after eating much local food. ”
“ Looking for a place to have lunch, good food and great staff, well Yayoi is a fun place to stop in. Located in the MBK mall on one of the top floors, this little restaurant was packed. Luckily, I looked hungry and they sat me immediately. Very nice staff. What caught my eye was the bento selection. So being curious ordered one of the many selected sets that had everything. The bento box had salmon, fish, fried cod, salad, lots of rice, egg, crab and more. Lots of selection that even I couldn't eat it all. Delivery of the food was pretty quick and I ate as much as I could. The food was good. Highly recommended! ”
“ If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, Yayoi at MBK Mall is a hidden gem worth seeking out. Tucked away in one of Bangkok’s bustling shopping centers, this restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience that combines freshness, quality, and authenticity. Upon entering Yayoi, you're greeted by a cozy atmosphere with traditional Japanese decor. The ambiance is relaxed, making it an ideal spot to take a break from the chaos of shopping. I couldn’t wait to dig into the menu, which features a variety of delicious options, but I quickly realized there was a language barrier. The staff, while friendly, seemed to have limited English proficiency, so I found myself relying on an online translation app for the essentials. Once we navigated that hurdle, though, the experience only improved from there. Now, let's talk about the food. The dishes I ordered were nothing short of fantastic. The salmon was exceptionally fresh, each piece just the right size and bursting with flavor. The fish melted in my mouth, a testament to its quality and freshness. The Strawberry Milkshake was another standout; the vegetables was light and grilled, encasing perfectly cooked vegetables and fries. Every bite was a fusion of textures that left me wanting more. I also couldn't resist trying their signature Strawberry Milkshake, which was beautifully arranged and offered a well-balanced meal. Despite the slight communication barrier, the staff were attentive and quick with service, ensuring that my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. It was evident that they genuinely cared about providing quality service, even if our conversations were a bit unconventional. In summary, Yayoi at MBK Mall is a must-visit for anyone craving fresh and delicious Japanese cuisine. With its quality dishes and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a fantastic escape from the busy mall. Just come prepared with a translation app, and you’ll find yourself indulging in some of the best flavors Bangkok has to offer. I can’t wait to return! ”
“ There are only two staffs on a sat early afternoon, the wait for food is way too long and we can’t even find the staff to ask why it take so long (as we need to rush off to catch a plane). The food is very average. The beef is too hard and the hot plate is not even hot. Very disappointed with the food. The extreme maki is also very average. I think you can give this a miss if you are deciding something else ”
“ Came here for a late lunch and was reasonably satisfied. (What's happened to Fuji at MBK? I couldn't find it on the 6th floor so came here). Wasn't as good as Fuji and a much more limited menu. Some more sushi on the menu would be a nice touch. Food was nicely presented and service was fine. Above average dining but not exceptional. Value for money was decent. ”
“ Nice place without a heavy crowd. This place is at the 7th floor of MBK. I did inhouse dining. Dishes are very tasty. The staff is also friendly and pollite. ”
